Mrs Ball is our full time Nursery teacher. We also have Miss Osborne as a Teacher on a Monday afternoon and Mrs Bowkett and Mrs Broad who are our full time, wonderful teaching assistants.
At Marlbrook Nursery, children are at the centre of everything that we do. We believe children learn best when they are interested, curious and deeply engaged, which at this stage of development, is best achieved through play.
The curriculum we deliver is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) (Early years foundation stage (EYFS) statutory framework - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) for more details). We know that when children are playing and selecting what to do themselves they become deeply engaged. In our setting, the adults observe and wait for a moment in which they feel they can make a difference. They interact to teach the next steps appropriate to the individual child. Each time the adults interact with a child, they are observing, assessing, planning for and responding to that individual child. The interactions are the most important and powerful teaching moments.
We are proud of the learning environment we have created. The children can choose to play inside or outside, with classroom doors remaining open. From day one, the children are supported to explore the environment to see what is available, to select the resources they would like to, to use them appropriately and to tidy the area when they have finished. The timetable has been designed to give the children the maximum amount of ‘free flow’ time and our staff are always there to support the children in their activities.
There are a maximum number of 52 places in the morning and 52 places in the afternoon sessions. Please call to make enquiries if you would like to discuss your child's hours, we try to be as accommodating as possible.
Children are able to attend from the age of 3 years old.
Every child is entitled to 15 hours a week funded by the government (no lunch).
For those eligible 30 hours funding is also available, please enquire at the school office for further details.
Full day provision is available with the lunch hour also included at no extra charge (packed lunch required).
Will a place at the Nursery guarantee my child a place at Marlbrook Primary School?
No. Application to the Reception classes is a separate matter governed by the Local Authority. Please see our admin staff if you have any questions regarding this.
